In 2016 when the third sequel of Kung Fu Panda released, the filmmakers of the movie revealed the possibility of a fourth film. The co-director of the show, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, revealed that they want to make a perfect jewel, one movie at a time, but they are looking forward to what could come.
The other co-director, Alessandro Carloni, said that they don’t want to leave movies open-ended. They want to feel the completed journey, just like independent movies. Kung-Fu Panda 4 was supposed to release in 2018. However, the project shelved when NBC Universal took over DreamWorks.

In the third movie of the franchise, Po realized that he was the real dragon and also his successor. The team destroys the Villian of the season- Kai. Then the movie ends up in peace.
