The Alienist: a psychological thriller crime-drama show first debut back in 2018. Surprisingly, the show hit the critics and ratings in no time. Eventually, TNT decided to renew The Alienist Season 2 back in 2018 itself. Now, finally, the long-awaited show is ready to premiere this July. The first season was an adaptation of a crime novel of Caleb Carr’s of the same name. Likewise, The Alienist Season 2 is an adaptation of Caleb’s another novel named “The Angel of Darkness”.
In the previous season, Daniel Bruhl, as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, played a psychologist’s idol. He was involved in a child murder investigation in New York back in 1896. During his investigation, Dakota Fanning as Sara Howard and Luke Evans as John Moore joined him in solving the case. While probing the mystery, Sara serves as the first female police detective of the city. Now, let’s see what new this second season will bring.

What New Mystery The Trio Will Solve Now?
In The Alienist Season 2, Sara has opened her private detective firm and reunited with Dr. Laszlo and John to solve new cases. Here, Dr. Laszlo managed to solve every case with his knowledge of psychology. And indeed, John Moore updated his work profile. He is now working as a New York Times reporter. Now, the trio will be busy solving the case of Ana Linares. The new case is all about infant kidnapping, the daughter of the Spanish Consular.
During their investigation, they discover an evil path. And that leads them to brutal murder and corruption. Somehow the trio figures out how deep the roots of deceit involved in this case. At the same time, they explore many creepy issues, such as corruption, racism, and sexism. Also, they will find a sad truth about the position of women in society. However, this gives them an idea that maybe the killer is behind all the brutal scenes.
Cast Returning And New Additions!
Fortunately, the main cast is back to thrill you again. Daniel Bruhl as Dr. Laszlo, Luke Evans as John Moore, and Dakota Funning as Sarah Howard. Along with Douglas Smith as Marcus Isaacson and Robert Ray Wisdom as Cyrus. Also, Matthew Shear as Lucius Isaacson and Ted Levine as Thomas Byrnes (former NYPD Police Commissioner). However, it’s not declared whether Matt Lintz and Brian Geraghty would return.
Further, many new members will join the show in Season 2. The list includes Rosy McEwen and Melanie Field, though their roles are not revealed yet. Besides, a few more historical characters will join the show. Including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, our women’s right leader, along with painter Albert Pinkham Ryder, and advocate Clarence Darrow.
