Is Britannia A Real Story?
Epix’s Britannia is a periodic fantasy drama series that picks up some bits from an ancient culture. Even though the premise of the series Britannia is rooted in times of Roman imperialism almost 2000 years ago, the story of the Epix series is not based on any real historical incident.
In the era of Roman expansion, Brit society was not how it is portrayed in the series. It was not a united country. Rather, it was divided into several small tribes and kingdoms. Druids were renowned individuals in Ancient Britain and Gaul. They were the community’s traditional memory, thinkers, and teachers. And most significantly, they were thought to be the intermediaries between men and the Gods. They were naturalists with a lot of knowledge.
Veteran’s character was developed by the show’s authors and was not based on a real druid, according to what we know about him. In addition to the rural inspirations from England, the show incorporates Welsh influences. This is evident in the show’s depictions of spells, rituals, and charms.
