Wonder Woman 1984: Reason Why She Was Against Reviving Superman In Justice League? More Details

Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince was against Henry Cavill’s Superman’s revival in the Justice League, which her incidents of Wonder Woman 1984 tell why. Patty Jenkins’ forthcoming movie will pursue Diana’s solo quest, which will focus on the peak of the cold war. However, this time, Diana will deal with some new villains. These including Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Cheetah/Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristen Wiig). Since the film is set in the early 80s, it will help the fans better understand why Diana was against bringing back Superman/Clark Kent in Justice League, despite being the asset for the entire team.

Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice ended with Superman sacrificing his life to save everyone and defeat Doomsday. However, it worked as a beginning point for the Justice League, which followed the appearance of the more deadly threat in the form of Steppenwolf. Without Superman, the troop led and assembled by Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman. However, they soon realized that they still are not enough to win the battle despite getting help from all the superheroes like Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg. So, from there, the idea of reviving Superman came up.

Wonder Woman 1984: Will Bring The Lost Heroes Back

In Justice League, everyone agreed with Bruce’s suggestion of reviving Superman to defeat the danger and to restore humanity. However, Diana was the only one who was against this decision. But, Bruce was fighting with his guilt about what he did to Superman. So, it was a good idea to bring him back in life to correct his mistake. Diana’s strong disagreement would get crystal clear when it discloses what Diana has experienced in Wonder Woman 1984.

Diana’s Love Interest Steve Trevor’s Return

Well, the film will not only reveal Diana’s strong viewpoint of avoiding Superman. But also it will put light on Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor return. Trevor was the one and only love interest of Diana that was introduced in the first Wonder Woman movie. However, just like Superman, he sacrificed his life to save the world at the end of the film. Now, it is quite mysterious to see him back and healthy in the film.

However, he played the center part of the film, as shown in the trailer. In which, Diana almost broke into tears of joy after seeing him fit and alive. It shows that Diana is still in love with him. However, his return doesn’t seem natural at all. After knowing what happened in World War I, it’s evident that Steve’s return has something to do with supernatural theories.

Happiness Won’t Last Long In Diana’s Life

Well, it’s clear that Steve’s return has nothing to do with the theories of him jumping off the plane before its explosion. Since his appearance in the 80s revealed that some mystical powers were behind his survival. Further, if you noticed that Steve has no idea about how the 20th century evolved so much and what happened in the past years, it seems that he is revived back to his life. However, Steve is now here in modern DCEU. It means the couple would separate again at the end of the film.

However, this time, the separation might be worse than before. Diana would realize that messing with nature could cost a lot. Although Diana wouldn’t want to let him go, but she would understand that it would cause nothing but pain. So, it’s more likely that she would force his return in the end.

Diana Will Learn More About Nature

Looking at what Diana learns about the natural order in Wonder Woman 1984, it explains the reason why Diana was against reviving Superman in the Justice League. Messing up with nature could bring unexpected consequences that will affect the balance and would result in catastrophe. However, she was outvoted as everyone was in support of bringing Superman back. But, Bruce listened to her carefully and prepared a contingency plan in case if Superman goes awry.
