During a recent episode of her Barely Famous podcast, “Karma & Chaos,” Kailyn opened up in detail about her complicated family situation, especially with her father.
She revealed that her father, Raymond Lowry, is the one who’s dying and not doing well. While she’s heartbroken over his condition, Kailyn admitted they share a long and difficult history. She feels deeply conflicted and unsure of how to process the situation emotionally. When Kailyn was just 16 and pregnant, her parents cut ties with her. At that time, it was her ex-boyfriend, Jo’s parents, who supported her. Eventually, her life took a turn when she landed a spot on Teen Mom, which helped her gain stability and independence.

At the time, she was very excited about the reunion, but once they met, she quickly realized they had nothing in common. In the recent episode of her podcast, Barely Famous, Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry revealed that her father, Raymond Lowry, is now in hospice care. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 COPD, a chronic lung disease that causes severe breathing difficulties. While speaking to her co-host, Kailyn said, “I know you’re in the dead dad’s club, and I’ll be joining you soon.”
Kailyn went on to explain that she feels emotionally conflicted about her father’s impending death. She received the news through her aunt and admitted that she didn’t know how to process it. Although she never had a real relationship with him, the news still left her shaken.
She shared that she feels like she never got the answers she spent years searching for. Back in 2019, she reached out and asked him to take a DNA test, but he later refused. That unresolved chapter now weighs heavily on her as she faces the reality of his declining health.
Kailyn still wants to confront him. She wants to know why he left, why he didn’t try harder, and why he just gave up. She added that he did the same thing to her sister, and it continues to bother her. Kailyn feels like he owes them an explanation, and she’s angry. She wants to ask these questions, but she’s conflicted about the entire situation.
