The next episode of The Curse Of Oak Island Season 9 is titled “The Unusual Suspects.” In the upcoming episode, the Lagina brothers will discover some excruciating evidence that suggests the presence of ancient Portuguese on the island. They will also discover mysterious artifacts deep inside the swamp area.
The discovery could lead the crew to prove Fred Nolan’s half-a-century theory in Episode 9. Thus, the upcoming episode could change the course of the current season and suggest some promising discoveries coming ahead.

The team was focused on discovering the buried ship at the edge of the swamp area previously. The crew began the episode by digging around borehole DE 1.5. However, the digging did not reap any fruitful results. So, the team moved to borehole G2. The borehole was close to Shaft 6, around 18 feet away from the Money Pit Area.
They discovered a nail that depicted traces of manganese in it during the digging. Next, the team extended their digging to the Swamp area, following Zena’s map. They thought out of the box and searched outside the regions indicated by the map.
The team discovered some lead particles and a metal strap during the digging. However, they could not find traces of a buried ship full of treasure. As per Carmen Ledge, the chest could have been a part of a chest people used to wear in the 1600s. The Lagina brothers used a 35-ton long-reach excavator while digging around the swamp area.
There, they found a wooden plank and some cut timber instead of what they were hoping to find. However, the region around Shaft 6 showed some bright signs of the treasure’s presence in Episode 8.
