The Haunting of Hill House Season 2: Netflix’s 2018 horror series- The Haunting of Hill House was a huge success. Everybody knows that even without the viewership figures. Bagging an astonishing 8.4 on IMDB and 93% Rotten Tomatoes, the show made its way to all screens. After the massive success, everybody knew The Haunting of Hill House Season 2 was on the cards. The installment named Haunting of Bly Manor will feature one of Henry James’s story- The Turn of the Screw, with, of course, new twists. 

For all the viewers who are excessively excited for The Haunting of Hill House season 2, you are in luck. The showrunner and creator- Mike Flanagan has revealed many details about what could be coming up in the upcoming installment. Keep reading to know about all the details- 

Members Who Will Be Back In The House

Netflix’s horror series of The Haunting will follow the same pattern as American Horror Story. They will bring back members from the old cast in new seasons in new roles. Many members from the original cast will be coming back for the second season. 

Coming back to the franchise is Catherine Parker. Though, her role in the show is not yet revealed. Mike Flanagan announced her return via Twitter. Another actor is Kate Siegel, who we saw in the inaugural installment as Theo, Crane’s sibling. We don’t know what character she will play in The Haunting of Bly Manor, either. 

Henry Thomas, who was a part of The Haunting of Hill House, is returning for The Haunting of Bly Manor. The former famous child actor will be next seen in The Great Alaskan Race and will play Dr. Mid-Nite in the DC series- Stargirl. Another Alum is Oliver Jackson Cohen, who will be back for The Haunting of Hill House season 2. He is coming in to play Peter, who is described as a very charming fellow. 

Victoria Pedretti is coming back to portray Dani, the governess in the house. As per the traditional story, she will be the one who takes care of the young orphan siblings who are later on possessed by the ghosts. 

It is not just the old faces who will make up the whole cast. The new set of actors joining the upcoming season includes T’Nia Miller from Years and Years, Rahul Kolhi from Supergirl, and Amelia Eve. Miller and Eve are set to portray the lead roles in The Haunting of Bly Manor. 

No More Crain Family In The Haunting of Hill House Season 2

Talking about The Haunting of Hill House season two, or as called The Haunting of Bly Manor, creator Mike Flanagan has discussed what could be coming up. In an interview with Digital Spy Flanagan stated that in the first season, they got to explore the Shirley Jackson universe. The Turn of The Screw will mostly inspire the second season. He said that they know that the story has been adapted many times before. However, they have used many other Henry James’s ghost stories to fill the gaps in the season.

Flanagan went on to say that even if the viewers know The Turn of the Screw well, there are many surprises in The Haunting of Bly Manor. They have used some ghost stories that haven’t ever been adapted. They all thematically go on well. The creator revealed that it was fun for him to craft the plot for the second season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Flanagan spoke about the idea of an anthology series after the first installment. He said that they had covered the Crain family’s story through and through in the season, and they have left them exactly the way they wanted. So, the creators aren’t planning more of the Crain family in the upcoming season. In the same interview, Flanagan quoted Steve and stated that the show is entirely about haunted places and people, and they have enough of both of it, so there’s a lot of things they can do. 

The Haunting of Hill House Season 2: What Could Be Coming up? 

Flanagan recently revealed that The Haunting of the Hill House season two would tell a very different story. It will take inspiration from The Turn of the Screw- the classic horror novel by Henry James, but still be very different. The creator revealed that they are looking into Henry James’s ghost stories as the jumping-off point in the season. So, it’s very different.

The Turn of the Screw’s original story features a governess who looks after two small kids is a huge house in a remote part of a town. The house may or may not be possessed by ghosts. As the governess starts inquiring about things she is seeing, she starts thinking if it is paranoia or just her mistrust in a new place. There comes the point when she starts questioning her own sanity.

Talking about their decision to create the storyline, Flanagan revealed that they found it really cook to expand on many things. Just like the things they did in the first season. However, in the second season, they are working on a new story without the restriction of how they curated the story in the first season. Flanagan has promised a little dopamine rush for all the viewers. 

Release Date 

Everybody knows that The Haunting of Bly Manor is releasing sometime in 2020. But nobody knows exactly when. The creators have not let much information slip out. The inaugural season is released in October, so fans expect Season two to follow the same schedule and release around Halloween.

The Haunting of Bly Manor has completed the production. Showrunner Flanagan took onto twitter to congratulate the whole cast and crew. The good news is, the ongoing epidemic has not affected the show. Flanagan revealed that they had completed the shoot before lockdown, and the post-production is going on from home.
