It has been almost five months since the arrival of Altered Carbon’s second season, but there are still no words on Altered Carbon Season 3. The continuous ups and downs of futuristic technology have been shown to have a sound amount of thrill in the show. Therefore it is one of those shows on the streaming giant which has their own unique concept.
Altered Carbon is an American cyberpunk web TV series. Laeta Kalogridis created this show for Netflix. It is the remake of the 2002 novel series of the same name by Richard K Morgan. The show made its debut on February 2, 2018. Netflix has released two seasons of the series so far, with the latest one out on February 27, 2020. Both seasons received a great response from the critics as well as the viewers.
Altered Carbon Season 3: Canceled?
Netflix neither canceled nor renewed the series for its third season. The streaming giant usually took a month or two before announcing the fate of any series. However, it has been five months, and the future of Altered Carbon is still up in the air. Both the creators and the casts are eagerly waiting for a decision from the streaming giant so that they can start working on it. Alison Schapker, the showrunner of the series, recently talked about this in his interview. He said, “I have ideas, but we’re anticipating on official word from Netflix. We don’t have a pickup. We’re season to season. Now I’m dying for the following season.”
Anthony Mackie also expressed his wish to return in Altered Carbon Season 3 in his interview with THR. He said, “I hope I get the chance to bring Kovacs back again succeeding season. I’m clearly not ready to leave the series. Acting in Altered Carbon was one of my greatest work experiences ever. I never had a rough day at work the entire time.” So, everyone, the fans, casts, and creators are just hoping that Netflix will soon greenlit the third season.
What To Expect From The Third Season?
The fans can expect Takeshi to return with a new face in the third season as he sacrificed himself to kill the Elder. At first, it looked like he won’t return anytime soon. Takeshi Kovacs Prime (Takeshi’s clone inhabited by a copy of his brain) is assured of becoming the show’s lead. However, in the concluding moments of the previous season, Poe recovers after being shut down and realizes that he has a raw human DHF hidden inside his memory. Later Poe and Dig learned that the DHF is none other than Takeshi.
Now in Altered Carbon Season 3, the viewers will find out how much this Takeshi recognizes and what body he will be formed up to next. The creators will continue to maintain the three-act structures from the novel series in the screen adaptation. Therefore, there are a lot of ways to start the third season, which means Takeshi’s story can go anywhere after the conclusion of the previous season.
Altered Carbon Season 3: Release Date
We are still waiting for official words from Netflix regarding the third season. Therefore it is hard to predict an exact release date of Season 3. There was a gap of two years between the release of both seasons. Hence, Altered Carbon Season 3 might premiere by the end of 2022.
