The fourth season’s finale aired on September 11, 2019. However, in the same month, OWN renewed the series for its fifth season. Queen Sugar didn’t take much time for its seasons. However, the production process had to face a pause because of the COVID 19 situation. Things were shut down. Moreover, the makers took this time as the opportunity to create something better. Deadline reports Tina Perry’s statement, “When Ava came to us with the idea to revamp the storyline for the fifth season after production was halted due to the pandemic, we knew at that time that it was the right decision to give our viewers Ava’s unique perspective on the very real issues.” There, daily life impacts are set to bring up on the screen. Racial inequality of the Black Community is also to feature in the coming season’s storyline.
