Call The Midwife teased an encouraging update that Call The Midwife Season 10 production will soon wrap up, albeit the series severely hit by the global pandemic. You’ll be surprised to know that the series got back on its track after being halted for many years. We have already been treated with some glimpse of the tenth season in the following Christmas special. Now, let’s see what will come next from the period drama series.

   

Call The Midwife takes place in the late 1950s and 1960s where the group of midwives worked in the East End of London. It follows Jenny Lee, a newly qualified midwife, and other midwives dealing with that time’s medical problems. Well, they practice in the poor East End in Poplar district, where they carry out various nursing duties. However, their primary work is to handle nearly 80-100 childbirth and ensure they are safe from danger.

BBC One’s top-rated medical drama faced many delays due to the ongoing pandemic. However, it amazed fans with the return of its Christmas special in December. Although the Christmas special wrapped up in time before Christmas Day. Yet the entire season couldn’t make it to return on time. However, over the weekend, the team shared a pleasing update on their official Facebook page. They revealed that Call The Midwife Season 10 would return “very soon.”

The post reads: “Season 10 filming continues apace,” although they faced several challenges and production delays due to the global pandemic. Further, they hinted that soon they would finish the filming for the entire series. Even the production team is looking forward to showing the result. That they would achieve after its hiatus break since the past year.

Shared Their Biggest Challenges

Even the team shared the challenges they faced while filming the summer scenes during the winter. However, many scenes were shot during the summer month. But, the delay resulted in filming some of the summer scenes in the winter. They shared that the actors used to suck ice cubes while preventing their warm breath from showing.

The team also shared the behind the scene snaps of Sister Hilda (Fenella Woolgar) and Trixie (Helen George). As they are pacing from Nonnatus House for their rounds. You can also see the struggle of forcing a smile while paddling in the middle of winter. To portray the atmosphere of the tropics while the cold wind whips near their pedals.

Unfortunately, Jennifer Kirby won’t return as Nurse Valerie. However, other cast members would reprise their role. These include Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan, and Linda Bassett as Nurse Crane. Further, as Sister Hilda, Fenella Woolgar will return with Ella Bruccoleri as Sister Frances and Helen George as Trixie.

Leonie Elliott as Lucille will return with Laura Main as Shelagh Turner and Stephan McGann as Dr. Turner. Apart from them, Cliff Parisi as Fred will return with Annabelle Apsion as Violet and Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins. Daniel Laurie as Reggie will also return with Zephryn Taitte as Cyril and Max Macmillan as Timothy.
