One of the longest-running series in TV history, Doctor Who is returning for season thirteen. And fans are on their toes waiting for the release date. Doctor Who Season 13 will be titled Doctor Who: Flux and will air on BBC One, BBC America, in no time. The six-episode season will be part of a broader story that will bring Whittaker’s tenure as the Thirteenth Doctor to a close.

Doctor Who has been around our Television screens since 1963. And the show has undoubtedly stood the test of time. It has managed to hold on to its original fanbase while also gathering new fans from every generation. There have been over 860 episodes in the series and 13 incarnations of the Doctor. Not just that, the show has managed to stay relevant all this time.

Doctor Who Season 13: Trailer Breakdown

The first trailer for season 13 of Doctor who pooped up in ComicCon 2021 in July. In the trailer, we got glimpses of John Bishop in action and what can be described as the Doctor’s biggest adventure yet. 

Meanwhile, the second and the third trailer introduced us to the title of the series called Doctor Who: The Flux. In the trailer, the doctor warns about the Sontarans and also about creatures and side characters who await ‘The Doctor ‘ in this upcoming series.

Jodie Whittaker leaving Doctor Who!

It’s confirmed, Jodie Whittaker is going! The actress who plays the thirteenth manifestation of the Doctor in BBC’s long-running Sci-Fi drama is set to leave the show in 2022. Jodie will be discontinuing her tenure as the Doctor after a trilogy of special episodes scheduled in 2022. She has played the role of ‘The Doctor’ for a total of three seasons.

Not just this, the 39-year-old English actress is the first female to portray ‘The Doctor’ on screen. Along with Jodie, showrunner Chris Chibnall

will be leaving the series. And a recognizable face is expected to take over the reins for the upcoming seasons of Doctor Who.

Who Will Be The Next ‘Doctor Who’?

After the news surfaced about Jodie leaving the show, fans of Doctor Who have been eager to find out who will be the next Doctor in the show.

Jodie has already completed filming for the remaining of her part as ‘The Doctor.’ And, on being asked about her replacement in the show, Jodie admitted that she has no idea. She is also in the dark, just like millions of the show’s fans. 

Unfortunately, there is no official confirmation as to who will play the next ‘Doctor.’ However, there has been buzz about a few names who could play the protagonist in Doctor Who. Hollywood star Michael Sheen and British musician Olly Alexander are among the front runners to be cast as ‘The Doctor.’ As speculations have it, a few other names in the race to become the next Doctor are T’Nia Miller, Lydia West, Richard Ayoade, and Asa Butterfield.

With season 13 the Chris Chibnall’s era is coming to an end. The thirteenth season of Doctor Who, which will include six episodes, is scheduled to premiere on October 31, 2021. And the episode will release at 6:25 pm GMT every Sunday.

Each episode of Doctor Who season 13 will be released weekly. And the series finale is set to premiere on December 5. Also, three special episodes are set to release in the coming year 2022. S
