The previous episode showcased the events of Elizabeth’s death in a flashback. Dembe escaped with Red soon after Liz passed away. He took Red home and stayed for the night. However, Dembe was gone with the letter when Red woke up in the morning. At present, Red told Marvin that he was getting evaluated. Red felt out of touch with his organization and wanted to bring it together. Three of Red’s men, Hess, Ray, and Colby, were murdered in three days. Red was disappointed as he did not see the attack coming.
Elsewhere, in The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 9, Weecha and Red told Cooper about the whole situation. Red wanted Cooper’s assistance, as he told Cooper that the attacks were planned and precise. Furthermore, Dembe went to see Red with Marvin and Weech present there. Red gave Vendyke’s location to Dembe and the tip he received during the day of Liz’s death. Red apologized for abandoning Dembe as the latter apologized for the letter. The duo reconciled and wanted to work together again.
