HBO’s renowned dark comedy, the Righteous Gemstones, has recently concluded its second installment on 27 February. Fans welcomed the second installment after more than two years in January. The second installment featured nine episodes while continuing to tell of the toxic yet funny Gemstones family. After the end of the second season, fans are eagerly looking forward to The Righteous Gemstones Season 3. And they would be thrilled to know that we might not have to wait for two long years again as the show is hoped to return faster than our expectations.
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3: Renewal And Production Status
HBO decided to renew the third installment days after the second season’s premiere in January 2022. The renewal did not come as a big surprise to the fans as the series had received impressive reviews of 8.1/10 on IMDB and 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. The second installment was renewed in September 2019. Unfortuantely, the filming could not begin until April 2022. Thus, we can expect the production to begin at the end of the first half of 2022. Hopefully, fans will get to see it very soon.
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3: What To Expect?
In the second season finale, Lyle tried to fee some information on other televangelists to Thaniiel Block in order to rule out the competition. However, he refused to spill the beans on the Gemstones, as he did not want to risk the Zion’s landing. Thaniel threatened to expose Lyle next. So, Lyle and his associates intimidated Thaniel with some grenades. Unfortunately. Thaniel opened fire on them. Thaniel was killed by a ricocheting bullet, while two of Lyle’s men died off an explosion. Lyle hid when the Gemstones arrived. Later, he burnt Thaniel’s cabin along with his men to hide his involvement.
The Gemstones attended the Zion’s Landing ceremony in the present. Baby Billy showed up at the ceremony in order to repair his relationship with Tifanny. However, Tifanny gave birth to their son before answering him. Next, Eli received a call from junior, who revealed that the Lissons supplied weapons to the Cycle Ninjas. Lyle told Jesse about his involvement and that the Cycle Ninjas were teenagers from the Lisson orphanage. Jesse and Lyle were fighting on the beach when Lindy arrived and threatened the entire family at gunpoint. Unfortunately, the Lissons successfully managed to run away.
The Gemstones Hire Cycle Ninjas To Hunr The Lissons Down
One month later, The Gemstones successfully took control of the Zion’a landing project. Baby Billy and Tifanny reconciled while Kelvin and Keefe started a youth fitness center. Martin hired the Cycle Ninjas, who were mad at Lyle for not paying them. They were tasked to track the Lissons to Alaska, where they killed Lindy and forced Lyle to escape into the tundra, where he froze to death and was eaten by the wolves.
The Gemstones dealt with yet another enemy towards the end of the second installment. Thus, viewers can expect to see a whole new adventure coming in Eli and his family’s way in The Righteous Gemstones Season 3. Moreover, fans can expect to see a new enemy coming back from Eli’s past to haunt the gemstones during the third installment.
Who Will Return For Next Season?
The lead cast members expected to return are Danny McBride as Jesse Gemstone, John Goodman as Dr. Eli, Adam DeVine as Kelvin, and Eddie Paterson as Judie. Moreover, Tony Cavalero as Keefe Chambers, Cassidy Freeman as Amber Gemstone, and Skyler Gisondo as Gideon Gemstone are also expected to appear. Further, Walton Goggins, Gregory Alan Williams, Tim Baltz, Dermot Mulroney, and Jennifer Nettles are also hoping to return. In addition, we can expect some recurring and guest stars to join the cast for The Righteous Gemstones Season 3.
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3: When Will It Return?
The third installment has already been renewed in January 2022. Thus, the production is likely to start by May-June. And considering the time for filming and post-production, fans can expect HBO to release The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 during the first half of 2023.
