White Chicks 2: Well, it is natural for people to support different comedy capers based on their choice and popularity. But although the American film industry is brimming with various comedy flicks, one cannot deny the cult classic movie White Chicks. The film was released in 2004 and grossed millions of dollars worldwide. Even though it is regarded as a commercial hit, White Chicks opened up to negative reviews. However, upon its release, it received five nominations at the Golden Raspberry Awards. Interestingly, one of the categories was the Worst Picture. Moreover, the creators of the film were about to bring a sequel, but then it was shelved. However, the comedy classic is again in the buzz concerning its follow-up. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, White Chicks had a vast team that worked entirely on the screenplay part. Shawn Wayans not only served as a producer but played a prominent role in the film as well. Moreover, the story introduces us to two FBI agents who try to save two girls from being kidnapped. Is There Any Chance Of White Chicks 2?
The original White Chicks was released on June 24, 2004, and it has been more than 19 years since we last saw Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans putting the whiteface on. Despite the negative reviews and disappointing response, the team has expressed interest in developing a sequel. The first time when the audience received an update on it was in August 2009. Sony announced a follow-up, and so the formal statement confirmed the arrival of White Chicks 2. But due to some issues, the project was unexpectedly canceled from further development.
Again in April 2014, Marlon Wayans showed his interest in the sequel. After four years, it was confirmed that a follow-up movie was already in the works. Hence, it seemed like it would finally see the light of day, but then, it received no further updates. Over the years, co-writer and prominent cast member Marlon has repeatedly expressed his will to work on White Chicks 2. But it seems like the film’s fate is not ready to accept a second movie. Further, one of the supporting actors also teased the possibility of another film in 2019.
Terry Crews appeared on the stage of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. When asked about the sequel, he provided his official words on the development of White Chicks 2. Responding to this, Marlon Wayans took to Instagram and shared a post captioning it uniquely. He said that the information was not meant for a public announcement. In addition to this, before anyone could come up with distinct speculation, he cleared that the deal was not signed. So, White Chicks sequel is still a long way to go. Therefore, it will be safe to assume that the future of the follow-up movie is in limbo. Ever since the first film was released, the possibility of another movie is very uncertain. We need to wait until more details show up.
Who Will Return In The Next Movie?
The original film featured Shawn Wayans in the role of Kevin Copeland, aka Brittany Wilson. He shared the screens alongside Marlon Wayans. He was in the film as Marcus Anthony Copeland II (Tiffany Wilson). Apart from these two, Jaime King joined the cast as Heather Vandergeld, while Busy Philipps portrayed the character of Karen Googlestein. John Heard, Brittany Daniel, and Jennifer Carpenter stepped in the shoes of Warren Vandergeld, Megan Vandergeld, and Lisa Anderson, respectively. The other supporting actors include Terry Crews, Eddie Velez, Anne Dudek, Jessica Cauffiel, and many others.
As far as the cast of White Chicks 2 is concerned, the reunion of the entire cast is not possible. As a decade has already passed since they appeared in the film, all the actors might not come under the same roof. However, the possibility of main cast members reprising their characters is relevant in the present time. Also, the expected upcoming film could again have Tery Crews, as he is keenly interested in bringing the film back to the theatres.
White Chicks 2 Release Date
Coming to the release date, there is no official detail that can state a confirmed date. The uncertainty of the film has caused perplexion. So, it is quite difficult to predict when the sequel might make it to the screens. When the team teased the possibility of White Chicks 2 earlier, we speculated it to release before the pandemic. But then, everything went in vain when nothing was able to save the project.
As of the present scenario, the announcement does not seem apt again. So, we cannot really guess its release. Unless and until the filming begins, none of the reports can deliver a piece of firm information. If the shooting starts by 2023, we can expect White Chicks 2 to release by the end of 2024.
