The first episode of Spirit Chronicles was released on July 6, 2021, and the episodes aired weekly. All the chapters were made available on TV Tokyo, AT-X, and BS Fuji. As far as the second season is concerned, the makers have already renewed the anime series for another season. On November 5, 2021, the creators took to Twitter to announce that a sophomore season was in development. The tweet also comprised a short video clip giving a short recap of the pilot season.
On the other hand, it officially announced that Osamu Yamasaki would be directing the forthcoming season. He is known for 2007’s Towards The Terra. What Is Expected To Happen In Spirit Chronicles Season 2?
The first season might seem like time travel, but the parallel stories form an extraordinary plot. Spirit Chronicles takes place in a fantasy world where a young orphan boy named Rio sees his mother’s death before his eyes. She was beaten to death in front of him, and so his only motive was to take revenge for her mother’s brutal murder. As the story proceeded further, the boy recalled his past life memories. One day, he woke up with his past memories, where his name was Haruto Amakawa. He saved a princess from a gang of kidnappers only to be captured by the king, who doubted him to be one of the kidnappers. Rio was tortured, and the soldiers wanted them to confess the false accusations, but the former refused. However, he escaped in the end.
In the last episode of Spirit Chronicles, Aishia helped Rio to cancel the wedding as Celia did not want to get married. After then, he headed towards a mountain situated in the remote location of the kingdom. Upon reaching, he discovered space-time rifts. He noticed it carefully and quickly went to save three children who were being traded to work as slaves. On his mission to rescue, he met with Ayase Miharu, who turned out to be his friend.

The first season was announced during the winter of 2020, and then it took about eight months to release on the original network. It was Anime News Network that broke out the news regarding the season 2 release. Following the formal announcement regarding Spirit Chronicles Season 2 in 2021, fans speculated that it would be released in 2022. They even expected it to air exclusively in Japan during that time. But nothing happened, and the wait continued.
Later on, one of the members of the official team came up with an update and mentioned that Spirit Chronicles Season 2 would take more time than we all expected. In addition, he did not provide a specific date or a potential year back then. But finally, a clear vision of the release date is here. According to the official tweet made by the makers, the upcoming season of the anime series is releasing in 2024. However, the makers have yet to announce the exact release date.
