Most well-Known for his role as Vlad in 2014’s Dracula Untold, Luke Evans is a popular Welsh actor, singer, and musician. In the last decade, Evans has established himself as one of the recognizable faces in the faces Hollywood. However, not many people know about Evans’ personal life. Early Life!

Luke Geoge Evans was born in Pontypool, Wales, on 15 April 1979. His father’s name is David Evans, while Yvonne Evans is his mother. Evans spent the majority of his growing-up years in a small town named Aberbargoed in Rhymney Valley. Luke had no siblings, as he was the only child of his parents. He left school when he was 16 and moved to Cardiff to train under the direction of famous singing instructor Louise Ryan. Evans then got a scholarship at the London Studio Center, where he earned his degree in 2000.

Career!

Luke Evans’ journey as an actor began in the year 2000 when he starred in many of London’s West End productions like La Cava and Miss Saigon. Later in 2008, Luke starred in Peter Gill’s directed play Small Change, which was his first major break. Evans received a lot of applause from critics as well as the audience for his performance, even garnering him a nomination at Evening Standard Awards.

Meanwhile, in 2010 Evans made his feature film debut in the role of the Greek god Apollo in the Clash of The Titans. The next year, he appeared as Clive in the film Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll and as the Sheriff of Nottingham’s thug in Robin Hood. Later, in the 2011 film version of Ken Bruen’s novel Blitz, he played DI Craig Stokes. Additionally, he appeared in the indie film Flutter, which Giles Borg helmed. In the renowned film The Three Musketeers, Evans played Aramis. Later, in 2011, Evans was seen in the Greek epic Immortals playing the role of Zeus.

In the year 2012, Evan starred in a horror movie called No One Lives, directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. However, it was his iconic role of Vlad the Impaler in Dracula in 2014 which gave him widespread fame and popularity. Luke Evans’ well-acclaimed performance was that of Owen Shaw in the sixth film of the Fast & Furious franchise. 

Alongside Emily Blunt, Evans appeared in the 2016 thriller The Girl on the Train. In the live-action Beauty and the Beast production by Disney the following year, he portrayed the evil Gaston. He played John Moore in the TNT television series The Alienist in 2018. Evans released, At Last, his debut studio album, in November 2019. Later, he appeared in the monumental war film Midway by Roland Emmerich. He last appeared in the 2020 film The Alienist.

Thanks to the increasing culture of acceptance and inclusivity, more and more people in the entertainment industry are coming out in the open about their sexuality. However, British actor Luke Evans came out way before when it wasn’t so “common”. During an interview in 2002 with The Gay Times, Luke Evans publically acknowledged that he is homosexual. However, even though the actor is openly gay, he likes to keep his private affairs away from the limelight. 

Meanwhile, Evans also believes that the fact he is gay has nothing to do with his talents and career as an actor. In fact, the actor recently talked about the matter during an interview with The Telegraph. In the conversation, he said that if gay people could only play gay roles on the screen, he would not have had a career.
