Not only this, the thriller K-drama had also broken at least 32 Top 10 lists. As per the reports, Sweet Home was watched by 22 million accounts within the first month of its debut.

Hence, with such an impressive performance, there’s no brainer to why Netflix has decided to continue with the show. While fans waited for the delighted news, Netflix took almost eighteen months to announce the fate of the series. However, the streaming giant finally confirmed Sweet Home Season 2 is on its horizon. In fact, the streamer also confirmed that the production for the next season had also begun. After this news, Song Kang’s manager also confirmed the renewal news.

Shortly after the renewal announcement, Netflix dropped a short announcement video revealing the production for Sweet Home Season 2 has already begun. Filming for the second season started in early 2023 and was wrapped in mid-February 2023. Following this news, Netflix confirmed that the show was already renewed for one more season. In other words, Sweet Home Season 3 is also on the horizon. Not only this, but the filming for both seasons 2 and 3 also began back-to-back.

In fact, Go Min-si took to Instagram to announce that the filming for both seasons had already been wrapped up. The star revealed that the Sweet Home Season 2 and 3 shooting took almost a year to complete. Min-si added, “I was happy” because they were all together and couldn’t wait to see the audience’s reaction. Later, the team took almost five to six months to wrap up the post-production work, and now the show is all set to hit everyone’s screen.

Sweet Home Season 2: Trailer Teases What To Expect Next This Season!

Netflix has recently dropped the official teaser trailer of Sweet Home Season 2, and it’s what the audience has been expecting. The trailer begins with a disastrous scene where a mob tries to escape from a building—the first season revealed that humans were infected by a virus that turned them into monsters. However, Doctor Im explains that the monsters are actually the medicine, and it’s humans who are the actual virus. With such a revelation, the trailer shows the first season’s survivor, Cha Hyun Su.

He has escaped the fatal situation. But there’s a catch! The Sweet Home Season 2 trailer hints that Cha now possesses the power of the beast and can turn into a monster anytime. But the interesting part here is he knows how to control his inner beast and chooses to help humanity. However, he has been taken to a lab, and it remains unclear what kind of experiment will take place there. Meanwhile, the trailer also offers a glimpse into the remaining survivors, who are afraid to trust each other. However, it reveals that the Green Home survivors want to reestablish humanity before the monsters can take over the world.

As for Cha Hyun Su, he is looking for a vaccine to save everyone. He is determined to help restore the balance. But the situation is alarming here as more human survivors can transform into monsters. Meanwhile, the Bamseom Emergency Management Bureau is currently researching for the vaccine. While the rest of the trailer features the massive bloodshed, a military unit tries to protect the Green Home survivors.

Sweet Home Season 2: Cast Details!

The trailer has already confirmed that Song Kang will return to reprise his role as Cha Hyun Su. Besides him, the entire first-season cast is also confirmed to return. So, it’s safe to say that we will also see Lee Si-young as Seo Yi-Kyung, Go Min-si as Lee Eun-yoo, and Park Gyu-young as Yoon Ji-soo in Sweet Home Season 2. Apart from them, Netflix has revealed the cast roaster for Sweet Home Seasons 2 and 3. As per the official confirmation, Song Gang, Lee Jin-wook, Yu Oh-seong, Jin-young, Oh Jeong-se, and Kim Moo-yeol will join the series.

Besides this, the streaming platform had previously announced that K-pop artist BIBI aka Kim Hyun-seo, would join the show. However, she stepped down from the role. Back then, the reason behind her departure remained unclear. But later, Korean Updates, an official X account for K-entertainment news, revealed that she stepped down from her role due to scheduling issues. A new cast will now play her character in Sweet Home Season 2. However, nothing is known about the character and who will replace BIBI.
