The Apothecary Diaries Episode 9: Preview Teases Maomao In Danger! What’s Next?
Jinshi seems concerned about Maomao as she has been away from the palace for almost three days. While the pair reunites, bigger problems await them. The Apothecary Diaries Episode 9, entitled “Suicide or Murder?” preview suggests that Jinshi receives terrible news while he is working. He learns about the death of a military officer. However, the former appears more concerned as the cause of death is drinking too much alcohol at a friend’s party. But since Jinshi is close to that officer, he isn’t convinced of the cause of his friend’s death.
So, he seeks Maomao’s help to uncover the truth. The latter soon starts her investigation and learns about the military officer’s eating and drinking habits. However, the more she invests herself in the case, the more dangerous and twisted it appears. Maomao finally manages to deduce the actual cause of the death in The Apothecary Diaries Episode 9. Shortly then, the mystery becomes more complicated when she pleads, “I want them to kill me with poison.” Although it remains unclear what she’s up to now, she appears drowning in the preview. Previously in The Apothecary Diaries Episode 8, Maomao was taken to the brothel by a servant girl after a well-dressed customer and a courtesan were poisoned. The former managed to save both lives and later asked the girl for her father. Amid this, Maomoa learned that the victims became prey to tobacco poisoning. That seemed like a double suicide case. But when Maomao stepped out of the room, she discovered that the servant girl was trying to stab the well-dressed customer with a knife. However, she managed to prevent this accident. But the girl seemed desperate enough to kill him.
Maomao later found that the customer was the wealthiest merchant’s son and a sweet-talking liar. He was the one who had sent the courtesans to the brothel. Among them was the girl’s older sister, and the courtesan who was with the victim was the servant girl’s close friend. After joining the pieces, Maomao concluded that it was an attempted murder. Somehow, she managed to prevent the death of the influential person and saved the brothel from humiliation. To amend, the madam gave the girls the hush money and some luxurious snacks. After solving this case, Maomao returned to the rear palace, where agitated Jinshi greeted her.
