Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2: Hit Series Is Unlikely To Return On Netflix! Why?

Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2

There’s no doubt that medical dramas are hugely popular among audiences. And Daily Dose Of Sunshine is among them, giving justice to its genre. However, with its impressive narration, fans wonder whether there’s hope for Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. This is because of its conclusive nature. However, the series has just hit Netflix. The interesting part is it has forced the audience to change their perspective on mental health. With such an intense yet unique storyline, the series’ fate remains dark. Will it not return for the next season? Well, we have bittersweet news for the K-drama fans. Keep reading to know about the series’ future.

Based on the Kakao webtoon of the same name, Daily Dose Of Sunshine is the latest addition on Netflix. The series focuses on the struggle of a third-year nurse who has recently been transferred to the Psychiatric Department. While the show has a pleasant setting, it gets a bit dark with time. This is because it dives deeper into the mental health condition and how it creates problems even in the medical professional’s life. Amid this, the series focuses on the romantic angle in Jung Da-eun’s life while navigating her personal struggle.

Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2: Is It Officially Renewed?

Netflix has recently released Daily Dose Of Sunshine in early November 2023. Soon after its debut, the series gained immense love from its dedicated fanbase. However, at the time of writing, the streaming giant hasn’t yet renewed Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. Well, it’s quite early to renew the series just after its debut. And when it comes to K-drama, the decision is not entirely in Netflix’s hands. But since it’s Netflix original series, the streaming giant will decide whether to return with another season.

However, the series did perform incredibly well when it comes to viewership. It has gained 100 percent positive reception on Rotten Tomatoes, 8.3 stars on IMDb, and 8.8 stars on MyDramaList. Considering such an impressive rating, there’s a chance for Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. This is because the streaming platform generally considers the viewership vs. cost chart to renew a show for another season. The series has already amazed the global audience as well as critics. Hence, there’s a high chance of its return. In fact, Netflix hasn’t yet canceled the series. So, there’s a hope for season 2.

But It Still Struggles To Top The Netflix Chart

As we know, Daily Dose Of Sunshine has already received high critical acclaim. Despite that, the series has failed to join Netflix’s Top Ten list. Since the series debuted, it has struggled to enter the top ten. However, the series managed to enter the list later in November, remaining in the Global Top 10 for almost two weeks. The series reached almost 28 countries within these two weeks. These include Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, India, Hong Kong, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea.

Despite that, Netflix has yet to make an announcement regarding Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. Although the series did reach the top ten list, it has been removed from the list. This is because the other popular K-dramas are now ruling the chart. It includes My Demon, Castaway Diva, Squid Game, and Strong Girl Nam-soon. And undoubtedly, it will play a crucial role in renewing the series. So, let’s hope everything gets in the right place.

Chances Of Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2!

Despite being a popular K-drama, Daily Dose Of Sunshine has failed to create a buzz in territories like the UK and the US. That may affect its renewal decision. However, only a month has passed (as of December 2023). Considering Netflix takes two or more months to renew the series, there’s a possibility for Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. But there’s a catch. The series is an adaptation of Webtoon. So, it can help in building the next season. Based on whether the creator has enough source material, Netflix can make the decision.

Is There Enough Source Material?

Unfortunately, Netflix’s Daily Dose Of Sunshine has already covered all the chapters of the Webtoon, leaving no room for season 2. Hence, scarcity of the source material can gravely affect the series’ future. But if the series gets the green light, then Netflix has to return with an original storyline. It will change the narrative of the series, which fans may not like. To return with another season means forcing the characters to return to the dramatic situations. It will also include fighting the battle they have already dealt with in the first season.

This unnecessary stretch may not do justice to the story. Further, the series is actually based on the real-life experiences of the Webtoon’s author, Lee Ra-ha. That has already come to its natural conclusion. Hence, it hinders the chance of Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. But nothing can be said at this moment. This is because Netflix hasn’t yet made any announcement. So, let’s wait for positive news.

Why Doesn’t Daily Dose Of Sunshine Need Another Season?

Well, the first season has already wrapped up each character’s story arc. So, there’s a slim chance of Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2. In the finale, Da-Eun’s colleagues helped her return to the psychiatric ward after the patients’ families protested against her return. This was because of her mental condition. They eventually learned that she had a mental breakdown and was a patient in the same ward. However, the situation was under control as the staff convinced the families that the nurse’s experience would help in the healing phase.

Da-Eun then managed to help Byeong-hui, who had a history of depression. But with the nurse’s help, she healed and later returned to her dream job. The finale also covered Da-Eun and Go-Yun’s story. The pair finally got together in the end. Meanwhile, Yu Chan took a stand for himself. His colleagues always took advantage of him by dumping their workloads on him. But at the end of the season, he had a word with his superior and decided to quit the job as it was affecting his mental health. Fortunately, his superior supported him, helping him deal with his panic disorder.

As for nurse Min Deul-Re, she finally managed to get free from her abusive mother. The latter had always taken advantage of her daughter. But she eventually cut ties with her mother, cleared the debt, and eventually joined her dream job. Since every character’s arc has already been neatly wrapped up, the chances of Daily Dose Of Sunshine Season 2 are pretty thin. But let’s wait till Netflix makes an announcement. Till then, stay with TechRadar247 for more such updates.
