The Witcher Season 2: Production Resume After Henry Cavill Returns To The Set- Release Date And More

Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2 filming has been struck by multiple setbacks since the last year for numerous reasons. The latest setback included star Henry Cavill as he suffered from a severe injury that forced the production to stop for a while. However, the actor Paul Bullion recently shared that the filming is back on track. Though the first season received mixed response due to its strange timeline, the fans are eager to know what lies ahead in Geralt of Rivia and Princess Ciri’s life.

The Witcher follows a mystical world where different creatures live together. However, in the medieval land called “the Continent” the elves, humans, and other monsters stay where humans are more dangerous than those monsters. It began with Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter. He realized the world out there is quite weird. Meanwhile, exploring the Continent he discovered that Cintran princess Ciri’s his destiny. Now, he has to rescue her while battling against the evils.

The Witcher Season 2: Filming Status!

As per Redanian Intelligence, Henry Cavill has recovered from the injury and now has returned to film the Kaer Morhen scenes. Recently, Henry also shared his outdoor jogging and exercise routine on Instagram. In fact, one of his costars Paul Bullion, who will play Lambert in the second season has recently confirmed that filming has begun. But due to the delay, the filming would conclude in March 2021.

Earlier, it was scheduled to finish in February 2021. Since The Witcher Season 2 filming began in August 2020. Initially, it was scheduled to film in February 2020 but was forced to hold in mid-March due to the health crisis. However, after four months, the UK allowed the film industry to begin their project while following a certain health protocol. But, in November, the filming for The Witcher Season 2 again halted due to multiple positive tests for COVID-19 found on the set.

Henry Cavill’s Injury Was A Major Setback

Henry Cavill suffered a hamstring injury in late December while shooting a risky scene at Arborfield Studios. In which, he was raised more than 20 feet in the air using a harness. But, this stunt injured him following the pause in the production again. However, Carvill recovered and returned to the set.

New Chapter Will Explore Witchers’ Land

The second season will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s Blood Of Elves events. It will follow Ciri learning new skills and developing her powers at Kaer Morhen under the guidance of Geralt and other witchers. These include Eskel, Lambert, Vesemir, Coën, and their mentor. However, Yennefer’s fate is still in limbo. As per the official synopsis, Yennefer died in the Battle of Sodden but the upcoming season would also explain her story arc in depth.

The Witcher Season 2: Release Date

Lately, in 2020, the showrunner revealed that The Witcher Season 2 would air in early 2021. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the schedule shifted from filming in February to August 2020. Considering those delays we can now expect that The Witcher Season 2 would air sometime in fall 2021. Stay tuned for more details.
