Dr. Shaun Murphy faced one of the most challenging situations in The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 4. His medical skills were tested against his ASD medical condition, which led to a mental breakout. However, he handled the situations after the breakdown in the most professional way possible. The following article features a detailed recap of the events of The Good Doctor Season 4.
What Happened In The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 4?
Fans are aware that Shaun is being under pressure since Salen took over the hospital. The changes implemented by her had been stressful for Shaun. In The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 4, Shaun was surprised to see a billboard with his picture and a tagline “Doctor With ASD.” The billboard made Shaun very upset and he confronted Salen.
She did not even ask for Shaun’s permission before displaying the billboard in the hospital. The incident led to another debate between Salen and Shaun. But this time, Salen was at fault, so she suggested him to take 48 hours to think about the matter. Ultimately, Shaun saw a young kid inspired by the billboard and he agreed to let it stay.
Shaun Gets Pulled Off A Case
The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 4 witnessed a young girl admitted to the hospital regarding abdominal issues. Her father had been well versed with her condition, as he researched about the disease for years. Salen then ordered Shaun to consider the father’s advice on the matter and treat him as a medical consultant.
However, Shaun was not pleased one bit with the decision leading to a stressful situation for someone who has ASD. He did not listen to the father’s advice and suggested that the kid needed surgery. However, the test results indicated that Holly did not need surgery, and the father was right. But Shaun was not ready to listen to someone without a medical license.
Further in Episode 4, Walt had a risky idea that was objected by Shaun. But, Andrews went on with the suggestion leading to Holly coughing out blood. Following the incident, Shaun lost his cool and snapped at her father, Walt. As a result, Andrew kicked Shaun out of the medical room.
However, later, Shaun suggested a better alternative with the intestine surgery, to which everyone agreed. The remodified surgery was successful as Shaun admitted to Walt that he was the greatest father Shaun had ever met.
Reznick And Park Handle A Transplantation Case
Meanwhile, the newest couple Reznick and Park treated a woman who required lung transplantation in The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 4. The woman had abandoned her son at a young age, who came to visit her years later at the hospital. Unfortunately, the lung transplantation idea turned out to be ineffective, as they suggested that a portion of her son’s lungs would work.
The mother disagreed, but the son was ready to do it. Then Park and Reznick had a debate over what to do, which Lim resolved. She suggested going ahead with the transplant as the son had given consent. Eventually, in episode 4, the son donated a portion of his lung to the mother and saved her life.
