In the previous episode, Terry Matheson and Charles Barkhouse were tasked to find the Money Pit with a borehole drill. They followed a tunnel at around 90 feet in hopes of finding the money pit. Unfortunately, the crew lost the tunnel. But Archaeologists Aaron Taylor and Miriam Amirault found an odd structure on the roadway.
Further, in The Curse of Oak Island Season 9 Episode 20, the team also discovered charcoal on the roadway, which made them wonder if the structure might have been a fireplace or a hearth. The group also found some hand-painted pottery. Aaron thought that it was quite unusual that the team was not finding enough artifacts. He believed that the people who built the road were trying to keep their activities under the wraps. The road was leading towards the island’s uplands, which was a positive sign for the Lagina Brothers.
In the war room, Craig Tester revealed the scientific dating of the piece of wood they found under the stone roadway. The wood date back to somewhere between 1489-and 1654. the team assumed that the rocks could have been of similar age as they found the wood under the road. The team revealed that the wood was around 300 years older than the Money Pit’s discovery in 1795. Hence, the road would have been constructed during the European exploration of America.
However, the crew was deeply frustrated after losing their way to the Money Pit. But, the stone roadway gave the Laginas some hope of finding something crucial as the season nears an end. Narrator Robert Clothworthy suggested that the discoveries could lead to a major twist in North America’s history in The Curse Of Oak Island Season 9 Episode 20.
