Samurai Champloo Season 2: Will It Get A “Live-Action” Series After Two Decades?

Samurai Champloo Season 2: Anime series has grown worldwide in popularity in the last few years. But there was a time when the trends of anime shows were new in foreign countries. But with the release of Samurai Champloo, the anime industry grew bigger and bigger. It only ran for a year between 2004-2005. Moreover, it was the first project for Manglobe, a production studio. Initially, the episodes were dropped on Fuji TV, but then got shifted to Fuji Network System. Although the series didn’t have any connection with Cowboy Bebop, fans found Samurai Champloo very similar to it. Be it the pop culture or the visual perspective, both anime stood at the same point. However, as soon as it finished airing, viewers became curious about Samurai Champloo Season 2. Here’s what we know.

Directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, Samiraib Champloo was already being planned in 1999. When the director was busy with the Cowboy Bebop, he already wanted to develop the project. But it didn’t appear until 2004. After the success of the Samurai Champloo, it became one of the best works of his career. Since both the anime series went hand-in-hand, there exist noticeable similarities. The story is set in Japan, where traditional and cultural elements are blended together. Moreover, the plot revolves around three characters, Fuu, Mugen, and Jin.

Will There Be Samurai Champloo Season 2?

The first episode of Samurai Champloo dropped on May 20, 2004, and Fuji TV was the original broadcast network. Due to some internal issues, the broadcast was canceled, and the anime moved entirely to BS Fuji. Since the original number of episodes got divided into two parts unintentionally, the other half was considered as the second season. The final chapter was later released on March 19, 2005. After a few days following its release, Samurai Champloo’s English dubbed version was made available in different countries. Fortunately, the 26-episode-long season 1 earned positive reviews.

As far as Samurai Champloo Season 2 is concerned, the makers haven’t dropped any update regarding it. It has yet to be announced whether the production studio will be picking up the anime series for further development or will continue to remain in the dark. It has been almost two decades since we heard any formal statement that could clarify the matter and quench fans’ thirst. However, the unresponsive long duration has created a negative sphere that continuously reflects that Samurai Champloo season 2 has a slimmer chance of happening. A few media reports claim that if the makers had wanted to create a sequel, it might have been released way before.

Chances For Samurai Champloo Season 2 Return!

On the other hand, one of the prime examples that strengthen the hope of Samurai Champloo season 2 is Cowboy Bebop. The latter was originally released in 1998, and the movie titled the same premiered in 2001. After 20 years, the team came up with a live-action series and adapted a story based on the previous plots. The same director directed Cowboy Bebop, and hence fans are speculating about the return of Samurai Champloo in the same way. But most of the viewers have already concluded that the second installment is not arriving. Nevertheless, the uncertainty still persists, and we cannot say anything for sure. All you can do is wait for an official update.

What Will Happen Next In Samurai Champloo Season 2?

The story of the debut season started with Fuub Kasumi. She used to work in a tea shop as a waitress, and everything was going well for her until a group of rowdy samurai barged into the shop. They began teasing Fuu, and she was also harassed by the son of the town’s corrupt representative. Fuu immediately managed to call Mugen. The latter agreed to help her in the tea shop only if the girl would provide him with 50 dumplings in return for defeating the goons. Since the situation was slipping off of her hands, so she agreed without giving it a second thought.

Mugen arrived at the shop and fought against them. Surprisingly, another samurai, Jin, was spotted killing the bodyguards of the town’s representative. Eventually, Jin and Mugen got indulged in a fight where the latter thought Jin to be a member of the group of evil samurai. Both were sentenced to death but were somehow saved by Fuu. Later, Jin and Mugen willingly wanted to continue the battle, but Fuu restricted them. She came up with an idea where she would be tossing a coin, and the results would conclude whether they should postpone their battle or not.

In Samurai Champloo Season 2, the story could have moved further. Although they were no major cliffhangers left behind in season 1, we cannot really say what the makers would have planned. Currently, the plot details are uncertain until the trailer for the next installment is dropped, followed by the official synopsis.
