The Apothecary Diaries Episode 11: Spoilers Hint At The Concubine’s Backstory!
Lishu’s poisoning arc will see a new angle when Maomao doubts her connection with the head maid, Fengming. The formers get uncomfortable after Maomao takes the head maid’s name and refuses to reveal anything about her. This draws her suspicion toward their connection in The Apothecary Diaries Episode 11, titled “Reducting Two To One.” Further, the head maid is currently her prime suspect as she shows signs of rushes that are caused by the wooden tablet, which is connected to Lishu’s poisoning.
It hints that perhaps Fengming poisoned Lishu in order to protect her master Ah-Duo’s place. Well, the Concubine is about to get replaced because of her age. So, it makes sense that she aims to destroy anyone who possesses a threat. Well, Ah-Duo had a history with the former emperor. She even had a son with him, who died while delivering. As the mystery entangled, Jinshi asked Maomao to join the tea party. There, she noticed Lishu’s maids bullying her and refused to hear her orders. It quickly caught her attention. Jinshi then asked Maomao to assist Ah-Duo. She then uncovered the head maid Fengming’s ability to send coded messages.
After reporting to Jinshi, Maomao realized the connection with the recent incidents, including the servant’s suicide and Lishu’s allergies. She then headed to see the latter and questioned about her allergy. Maomao was shocked to see the Concubine’s reaction after she mentioned the head maid’s name. As the investigator came closer to unearth the mystery, Lishu’s ladies-in-waiting refused to ask Maomao. But she forced them by using Jinshi’s name. Later, she headed to check some reports and learned her father was expelled from the Palace and responsible for Ah-Duo’s son’s death.
