Preacher Season 5: Will There Be Another Season? Will Dominic Cooper Return?

Before Amazon Prime’s The Boys, there was another character based on Garth Ennis’s comics that made the audience fall in love. AMC’s Preacher is a supernatural drama series created by Sam Catlin, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen premiered the fourth season in 2019. Even though the season ended on a conclusive note, fans are still wondering will there be Preacher Season 5. So, let’s discuss what we know about it.

The first season of the series portrayed the story of a preacher named Jesse Custer with a questionable lifestyle. He is a smoker, an alcoholic, and he is also high several times. The show chronicles Jesse’s journey on the path of search of god. Jesse also has some supernatural abilities that he uses to save the world from unspeakable dangers.

The fourth season of Preacher tried to wrap the majority of the ongoing storylines, so there is not much to anticipate about Preacher Season 5. The story has properly ended in the fourth season. So, if the show comes back for Preacher Season 5, it will likely follow an entirely different narrative or a new angle in the story. The show might decide to dive into completely uncharted territory by not following the plot that comic book explores.

Preacher stars some truly amazing actors. This includes Dominic Cooper in the role of Jesse Custer, the preacher. On the other hand, Joseph Gilgun plays the role of Proinsias Cassidy, Ruth Negga stars as Tulip O’Hare, and W. Earl Brown appears as Sheriff Hugo Root. Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck, Ian Colletti as Eugene, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, and Graham McTavish as The Saint of Killers.

In addition, other cast members of the series include Pip Torrens as Herr Starr, Noah Taylor as Adolf Hitler, and Julie Ann Emery as Sarah Featherstone. At the same time, Colin Cunningham essays T.C. Preacher, Betty Buckley plays Marie “Grandma” L’Angelle, and the god is portrayed by Mark Harelik. Even though there is very little chance but if the series returns for Preacher Season 5, then fans might see some original cast members starring in it, while there might be some new faces in the season.

Preacher Finale Left Fans Divided

It is a tale as old as time that finales of popular TV shows rarely manage to satisfy all the fans. At least one or the other section of the fans are mostly left disappointed with the ending. Fans think that the episode spent more time tying off various character arcs, instead of bringing an outstanding conclusion to the stories that the series took so much time to establish. Fans were not happy with what happened to Cassidy and the choice of the creators to depict the Saint of Killers vs. God story from the comic books.

However, a competing position claims that Preacher’s last episode succeeded in resolving all of the characters and story arcs, hitting all of the proper emotional notes and remaining faithful to the series’ ethos. Critics’ scores reflected this divided reception, with most thinking that Preacher’s finale was a success overall but nonetheless plagued by some of the show’s long-standing problems.

Will There Be Preacher Season 5?

AMC premiered the fourth season of Preacher on August 4, 2019, and the season concluded on September 29. And, as far as Preacher Season 5 is concerned, unfortunately, we do not have good news for the fans of the series. Even before than premiere of the fourth season, the creators announced that it will be the last installment of the story, and there will not be Preacher Season 5. Co-creator Seth Rogan in an Instagram post wrote, “The fourth and final season of Preacher is coming. It’s been a wild ride. Thank you all.”
